Building Strong Foundations For Healthy, Positive Youth

The LSPD IMPACT curriculum is an impactful educational initiative offered in the Lee’s Summit R-7 and Blue Springs R-4 School Districts, as well as Our Lady of Presentation Parochial School. Tailored to meet the developmental needs of students in 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 7th grades, the program aims to enrich young lives by teaching and promoting core values such as integrity, responsibility, respect, and prevention.

Empowering Students To Make Positive Choices

The IMPACT Program’s primary goal is to educate and empower students to make thoughtful, effective decisions about drug, alcohol, and tobacco use. By providing age-appropriate lessons, the curriculum prepares students to recognize the dangers associated with these substances and equips them with the skills to resist and refuse offers confidently.

Through structured decision-making models, students learn to face challenging situations and navigate toward positive outcomes. The program also focuses on emotional intelligence, teaching students how to manage their feelings and use de-escalation techniques to avoid conflicts before they escalate.

Reducing Violence Through Problem-Solving & Conflict Resolution

A vital component of the IMPACT curriculum is its emphasis on violence reduction. Students are introduced to proven problem-solving methods and conflict resolution steps, which empower them to handle disagreements peacefully and constructively. These skills not only foster safer school environments but also encourage personal growth and social responsibility.

Youth Crisis Intervention Program: Addressing Mental Health Challenges Early

Complementing the IMPACT curriculum is the Youth Crisis Intervention Program, designed to tackle the increasing mental health challenges faced by youth today. This program offers both young people and their parents or guardians essential tools and resources to manage and address emotional and behavioral difficulties.

By focusing on early intervention, the program aims to identify and respond to issues promptly, reducing the likelihood of future offenses or violence. This proactive approach helps create a supportive community where youth can access the care they need to succeed.
